Our Ramen Noodle making was a great hit among students. It is indeed very rewarding to see happy faces of students enjoying foods of a different culture.
Please note that next week is the last class for this term.

We worked on to complete our Koi Nobori hangings. Later we made a list of ingredients for Ramen making session next week. We also watched a few videos of ramen making which will come in handy for the students.
Week4
May 16, 2017
This week, we worked on Koi Nobori hangings. The class enjoyed working with vibrant colors and were very enthusiastic with the craft work. Some of them were not able to complete the whole set, therefore, we could continue it next week. I would also get them prepared for the Ramen making session which is due in 2 weeks time. We plan to go over our kitchen essentials and list of ingredients to make sure everyone gets it to their liking.
Week3
May 09, 2017
We worked on our summer puppets this week. The students were excited and created their own version of colorful finger puppets. Not only did we work on or vocabulary but also did colors in Japanese. We unwrapped the mystery of Japan and its culture with yet another folktale of Momotaro. These cultural short stories in the form of cartoons/anime are a good source of understanding for young students.
Next week, we plan to continue with our childrens day festivities in class.
Week2
May 02, 2017
Class started with many interesting experiences from the Sakura Festival, Students brought a lot of positive energy and seemed very happy. We doubled our doze of happiness, with our in class, Children's day celebration. We worked around the main idea about this tradition, sang the traditional song in Japanese and drew illustrations/symbols to represent this day.
We will continue to work with this theme for one more week as there is a lot that we would like to accomplish...
Week 1
April 25, 2017
We started our Japanese club with an introduction to the Japanese language: with some common greetings, some fun facts about Japan, an overview of the season 3 program and above all an insight into the Sakura-Cherry Blossom festival.
Students have been given out a notebook to work into and a laminated script chart. We will be working with the characters every week, therefore please make sure that your child bring everything on Wednesday.
Japan and its culture were further explained and discussed in the class using a short folk tale of Kintaro. The students enjoyed the manga style video, which had a loads to explain.
Next 2 weeks we will be working around the theme of childhood with the upcoming children's day in Japan.
I hope you had a chance to visit the Sakura festival.
